Which thickness
Thickness should follow the application:
- Competition mats— 1-5/8” to 1-7/8” is the volume standard for high school and collegiate competition. It delivers the shock absorption the sport requires while keeping the surface fast and responsive, so athletes can drive and finish shots without the mat absorbing the movement out of them.
- Wrestling rooms and daily practice — lean toward 2”. A competition mat sees a few dozen matches a season; a practice floor absorbs thousands of takedowns a week on the same bodies for four months straight. The 2” mat adds impact protection without going mushy, so practice reps still transfer to competition.

UWW-sanctioned competition — United World Wrestling requires mats between 5 cm and 7 cm. Dollamur’s UWW-licensed competition mat is built to fit the UWW standards.

The 50/50 nylon-polyethylene blend is the detail that matters — it reacts naturally underfoot, which is what you want for sled work, sprints, and agility drills rather than the dead, grabby feel of a cheap turf.
