Installing & Trimming Swain Hybrid Tatami Mats

Follow these steps to properly install and trim your Swain Hybrid Tatami Mats for a clean, secure fit:

1. Layout & Positioning
Arrange the mats in your desired configuration, making sure all edges fit tightly together. Each mat weighs approximately 40–50 lbs, so use proper lifting techniques during setup.

2. Measure & Mark
Mark the perimeter where trimming is needed. Allow an extra 1/8 inch on the final edge, and extend side measurements by 3–4 inches to ensure adequate vinyl coverage.

3. Cutting the Mat
Using a straightedge, begin by cutting through the vinyl surface and foam. For best results, make horizontal cuts in the vinyl about 1/4 inch short of the top and bottom edges. Then peel back the vinyl layer to expose the foam and complete the cut along your marked lines.

4. Secure the Finish
Apply adhesive to the exposed area, allow it to become tacky, then press the vinyl flap firmly back into place for a smooth, finished edge.
